• Artistic Statement

Hello, my name is Hallie Davis and I'm currently attending Texas State University in pursuit of my Technical Theater degree with a focus in costume design, construction, and wardrobe. My first experience with costuming was when I was in the fourth grade and began designing dresses. My parents thought I wanted to peruse fashion, but my sights were set on contributing to a bigger picture. Theater was the exact fit I was looking for. I began taking sewing lessons my freshmen year and I gained an amazing opportunity to costume design for our schools Shrek the musical. I later won best costumes at the Betty Buckley Awards through Casa Manana in 2023, which gave me the push I needed to commit to a career in costuming. Since starting college at Texas State University, I've discovered the joys of working in Wardrobe. I have been on crew for four shows at TXST and three at Texas Shakespeare Festival the summer of 2025. I've also been able to expand my knowledge in costume construction, drawing, organization techniques, and paperwork by taking classes and putting those skills to use in the TXST costume shop since my freshmen year, and at Texas Shakespeare Festival in the summer of 2025. Thanks to my BFA assignments, and JTLT at TXST I've been able to continue honing my costume design skills.
